July 13, 2018 by Polly Pocket

DIY Frozen Bone Broth Treats - ChiPets.com #ChewyInfluencer

Bone Broth is full of wonderful benefits for your Chihuahua. Make your dog a healthy, summer treat with this DIY recipe for Bone Broth Frozen Treats!

What is Bone Broth & Why is it so Popular?

Simply put, Bone Broth is a nutrient-dense stock liquid (or dehydrated-powder) packed full of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.  It is a super healthy, easy-to-digest supplement that is good for all dogs (from puppies to seniors, and littles to bigs).

You can make your own DIY Bone Broth or, thanks to companies like The Honest Kitchen, you can purchase ready-to-reconstitute Bone Broth powders in super convenient containers.

The Honest Kitchen Bone Broth boasts a 100% human-grade formula featuring a nourishing fusion of ingredients inspired by ancient Ayurvedic principles.  Their all-natural supplement is made in the USA by a family-owned company and is completely free of by-products, preservatives, or GMO ingredients.

What are the Benefits of Bone Broth?

Bone Broth has many amazing benefits. It has been traditionally used to treat digestive issues and support good joint health. Bone Broth can also benefit dogs with allergies, because it is a great immune system booster!

This supplement is rich in many nutrients including:  amino acids such as arginine, glycine, glutamine and proline. Bone Broth also acts as a superior joint supplement, because it contains gelatin (the breakdown of collagen), glucosamine, chondroitin, and other nutrients that support good joint health.

Bone Broth is also protein-rich, and contains vitamins C, D, K, iron, thiamin, potassium, calcium, silicon, sulfer, magnesium, glucosamine, phosphorus, trace minerals, and glucosamine chondroitin sulfates!

Bone Broth Sounds Amazing!  Now, Let’s Make Some Frozen Treats!

Thanks to Chewy.com sending us The Honest Kitchen Turkey Bone Broth to try and review, we were able to use this awesome blend of turkey broth with ginger, kale, and lentils to create our Bone Broth Frozen Treats.  You can order a variety of different flavors to use in your recipe, or make your own Bone Broth at home!

Since it’s summer, and super hot, we decided to make the Bone Broth even more exciting by turning it into a frozen treat!

It is super easy to do, especially if you have some pre-made The Honest Kitchen Turkey Bone Broth on hand to use for this recipe.

So, let’s get to it!

Step 1:

Follow the instructions on The Honest Kitchen Turkey Bone Broth canister to reconstitute your Bone Broth.  Once you have the Bone Broth ready and cooled, you’ll need to get out your ice molds. We used these. They are super affordable and a great size for small dogs!  We also like the many silicone ice cube trays and plan on getting some for our future Bone Broth Frozen Treats.

Step 2:

Fill the ice cubetrays carefully. If you accidentally over-pour, use a syringe to redistribute the liquid.

Step 3:

Place the filled trays in the freezer for a few hours until fully frozen.

Step 4:

Take them out, crack out a few delicious Frozen Bone Broth Treats and let your dog lick away!  If you have a super picky pup, frozen may not be their preferred way to enjoy Bone Broth, but don’t worry! The Honest Kitchen Turkey Bone Broth can also be served as a delicious drink, used to hydrate The Honest Kitchen foods, poured over dry kibble, and more!

Let us know your pup’s favorite way to enjoy Bone Broth in the comments below!
